"I used to be terribly afraid of heights, and one reason I went skydiving was because I believe you can only conquer your fears by meeting them head on and not running away from them. The first few times I jumped, I was really nervous. Even now, I still feel anxious the second before I jump. But once I’m out of the plane and in the air, it’s exhilarating.
I think we are all capable of much more than we realize. Sometimes we don’t even have to believe that we can do it. We just have to take the first step, and before you know it, we’re doing it! Just take the first step.”
Todd takes that first step over and over again and has conquered his fears and inspires others to do the same. #reallifeheroes #skydiver

"What inspires me about rugby is the fact that it’s not just a physical game; the physical part is overwhelmed by the greater mental game operating on you and your teammates. The most difficult opponent you will ever face is yourself and the limits you perceive to restrain your body. If you can find a way to beat yourself at the mental game, no one can stop you at the physical game."
Although, even in this day and age, it is said that sports are no place for women, Maddie fights against those odds every time she steps onto the rugby pitch. Her strength and her love for rugby inspires not only her teammates, but those who watch her tackle opponents twice her size.

"While the initial reason I chose mechanical engineering was because I like math and science, after two years of study I’ve grown to love the application of mechanics to solve problems. Most importantly, I can learn more about the field of aerospace, my desired future industry, while maintaining a broad enough major to be able to understand practically anything mechanical. Being that our society runs on so many different mechanical objects, with my major I can help the world."

So many prospective engineers are male, but that doesn’t deter Danielle from joining their ranks. She’s studying Mechanical Engineering, and her studies have taken her to France, where she is studying abroad. Science and Technology are notorious for being male-dominated fields, but people like Danielle show that it’s open to anyone who enjoys it.

"We’re just a couple of dudes looking for a good time. All you need is the right attitude and the right shoes." Standing only four and half feet tall, these guys have charisma to walk into a bar and act like they run the place. People are drawn to their charm and soon they’re the life at the party. They don’t let their height get in the way of how big their hearts are. #reallifeheroes #thescope #therightshoes

"My dedication to the sport of archery comes easily. Archery is something I love because it has given so much back to me. Over the years, the things I’ve learned have made me a better person and the reason I coach is so that I can share that experience with my students." His dedication to the sport and coaching position help inspire a love of archery to many involved with the organization. #realifeheroes #robinhood #thescope

"I’m in my mid forties and I still enjoy being a kid." At work, he wears the hat of being a hardworking business consultant. At home, he dedicates his time with his son pretending to go on make-believe adventures with him. He has fun helping his son build a home fort with blankets, pillows, and mattresses in his house. #reallifeheroes #nevergrowup #thescope

“We watch bad movies and have a good time.” Every last Thursday of the month, you would find them in Nue Studio, a cafe/barbershop that’s located in the heart of Hollywood, screening “bad movies.” Matt and Aaron welcomes every visitor and let’s them know that it’s okay to talk during the movie. It’s a place where you could cheer, boo, and clap along an awkwardly hip hop number in a Cop musical. This is Bad Movie Nite. #reallifeheroes #happyhalloween #badmovie #trickortreat

"I break to break out." In school, you would find him in the library with his head down and stacks of books beside him. Little did we know he practices break dancing behind the scenes to prove that he’s not an everyday cliche. It’s that little extra he puts in his ordinary life that makes him extraordinary. #reallifeheroes #breaktobreak #thescope
